your period cramps were making you feel like a pig and you devoured the chocolate I made for you.”
He went on and on and I knew that if I had to tell my moment of love, this would be it! To see Avery go on and on about how he fell for me was adorable enough to make me fall for him. I knew that this was one of those moments that I would always remember.
I had never thought I could be someone’s favorite hobby too, but looking at the guy sitting right in front of me and telling about all those umpteen ways that made him fall for me, I felt like a princess and there was no other beautiful feeling I could think of!

Chapter 5:

Avery decided to rub his luck on me and I was really thankful to him. If I started thanking him for all he did for me, I would perhaps go on and on as the list was a bit too long.
I knew it wasn’t the right thing to do, but when you are low on confidence, you know that you would take all that you get.
“Avery, do you think it is just of me to take such an advantage? Just because I landed up being with an alien, I am getting an advantage as compared to the rest of the peeps. This makes me a cheater, isn’t it?”
“No darling, don’t think like that. The thing about luck is that it is just a chance. I can rub my good luck on you, but you should not get complacent. It is you and you alone who can convert the whiff of good luck into something productive.
There is no assurance that this good luck would find you a big project. Of course not. If it was so, it would help me win everything in this world, isn’t it? if I could bring in luck to anyone and everyone, I word try it on myself and I should have been back on my planet a long time ago, but it didn’t happen, right?
The good luck is just an extra chance which gets added. It all boils down to you and your talent and your skills. You will need to work hard to get to the position you want and you deserve.”
When Avery put it like that, I knew that he was right and I felt like I wasn’t cheating. People did a whole lot of things for asking others to bless them. I was just using some form of an alien potion and it may not be life-changing.
“What would I do without you, Avery? I would be so lost and I would have given up a long time ago if you had not believed in me. I know that if I ever manage to be successful, I would have you to be thankful for. I know that without Avery, Madeline would never be! You are the best part of me. I mean it, Avery, I truly do.”
I kissed him and I knew that he was the best thing to have happened to me. Avery loved me selflessly and even though the thought of losing him terrified me, I wanted him to find his home too.
“Avery, I love you too, but –”
He cut me off mid-sentence and put his fingers on my lips and said, “I am old school in this matter. Don’t say I love you or don’t use but after the sentence because it just kills the essence of love. Can you do this for me, please?”
I melted right there because who would ever find a man so dreamily romantic. Of course, Avery was perfect and for a moment I wondered what did I do to ever find him!
“Don’t you miss your home, Avery? I want you to know that as much as I love you, I wish you too could use some of this luck and maybe try and find a way back. Being away from Maine often makes me homesick and I at least have the connection which helps me talk to my friends and parents.
It must be so hard for you to give up everything. I mean you practically had to start living again.”
He looked at me and I could see the way love danced in his eyes.
“Yes, it was really tough and none of my life made sense. In fact, there was a time in my life when all I did was exist and I was just waiting for the life to end. However at Zara, we all crave for love. Love is the fountain that makes us all alive and once you get love, you seek nothing else and every other thing ceases to matter. You get the rest of the story, don’t you?” he winked at
