sense at all.

Ted went to the reception and requested to see the lady who had checked them in. Unfortunately, Saturday was her day off. He took out a pen and paper from his bag and wrote down a few lines. The note read

I am sorry for putting you at risk of losing your job. 'Mzungu' (The white man).
He then asked the lady at the reception for an envelope in which he inserted the note with a $100 note enclosed in it. He then gave it to the receptionist, after addressing it to Mercy.
Tina emerged from the elevator still looking confused. By this time Ted was already in the cab waiting for her. She knew there was something seriously wrong when she noticed that he was seated on front seat next to the driver. Whenever they used a cab, he would always insist that they both sit at the back where he can talk to her with great ease. He then told the driver to take them back to the house.

Chapter Seven
'I only want you to tell me truth Tina, is that too much to ask for? Just the truth" These were Ted's first words immediately they reached the house. Tina's siblings had all gone out. They were only the two of them in the house. 'What truth my dear?' 'why do you seem so angry?'
'When were you planning to tell me that my fiancée is a prostitute? Huh? When?' Tina could not utter a single word. She did not know what had just hit her. The first person that came to her mind was Pierre. After a moment of silence, she gathered the strength to talk. 'Am sorry my love, what happened with Pierre was the greatest mistake of…' 'Pierre? Did you say Pierre?' Ted cut her short.
'You had sex with my best friend for money? What type of woman does that? You are a disgrace! You have no dignity.' Am very sorry dear, I truly am,' she replied softly. 'That was my past life, am a different… 'Don't you dare call me dear! You are nothing but a lying prostitute! You disgust me. Two full years Tina! Two years! You never thought that I should know about your past? Would you even have told me if I hadn't asked?' You have no shame. Maybe my father was right all along. You are the biggest mistake of my life.
Ted stormed out of the house and got into the taxi, signaling the driver to drive off. Tina was devastated. She sat on the floor and cried her eyes out. In less than an hour, her whole world had come crumbling down.

Chapter Eight
Ted checked himself into the hotel where he had spent his first holiday in Kenya. He was deeply hurt and angry. Deep down however, he knew that he still loved Tina despite everything. He could not believe that he had been blinded by love that much. Above all, he was most furious with his best friend.
He took out his laptop from his bag and video- called Pierre. 'Salut mon cher ami, comment ca va?'(Hi my dear friend, how are you) inquired Pierre in a rather jovial mood. 'What kind of person has sex with the girl his best friend is in love with Pierre?' Ted asked. 'What type of friend knows that his best friend is dating a prostitute and lets him go ahead without telling him?'.Pierre was dumbfounded.
He could not look Ted in the eye. 'Sleeping with Tina was a mistake Ted, we were both drunk. Am really sorry.'
Are you now? Don't you think it's a little late to be sorry? When were you planning to tell me that she's a harlot? Are you sorry about that too?' Ted's voice was now at its peak and he was boiling up. Had Pierre been there with him, he might have strangled him with his bare hands.
'I had no idea she was a prostitute, I would...' 'Oh so now you pay a woman to have sex with you and you don't know that she's a prostitute? How stupid do you think I am?' Ted interjected. 'I never paid her for sex! I only gave her money so that she could keep it secret. I didn't want her to tell you anything and jeopardize our friendship. Ted you have to forgive me. Am really sorry.' 'Guess what Pierre, you paid for the sex and it's good that you are sorry, because am sorry for you too' Ted slammed the laptop screen shut and sat on
