expected the night to happen as it did—well, he had no idea how the night could’ve gone, but skating at the Rockefeller Rink wasn’t what he’d expected. The spontaneity had been a welcomed surprise.
Darren smiled faintly as he relaxed in his seat, his eyes still focused on Ethan. Ethan, without a doubt, was a good-looking man, but there was something about the man that made him want to dig deeper, to find out more. It was like there was a whole other hidden side to the man; something more than the playful yet mature image he portrayed for his boyfriend persona.
Ethan was an enigma that pulled at Darren’s curiosity.
The kiss wormed its way back into Darren’s thoughts. It’d surprised him that a simple kiss like that had had such an enormous effect on him. Darren had felt himself beyond aroused by the kiss they’d shared, and it made him want more. A lot more.
Bobby dropped them off at the door of his building, and the doorman came to greet him, opening the door for them. He looked with interest at Darren’s arm around Ethan’s waist but said nothing aside from a simple greeting, as he should.
Once they were in his apartment, Darren helped Ethan out of his coat, hanging it in the closet before doing the same with his own. He led Ethan into the living room.
“Make yourself comfortable,” he said before he padded towards the open kitchen, taking off his suit jacket and rolling up his sleeves at the same time. “You want anything to drink?”
“What are you drinking?” Ethan asked as he browsed Darren’s enormous bookshelf.
“Scotch.”
“I’ll have one too, then. Straight up.”
Darren poured a finger of the amber liquid into each glass before making his way towards Ethan, glasses in hand.
“See anything you like?” Darren muttered against Ethan’s ear as he handed a glass to him, then wrapped his free hand around Ethan’s waist. He took a sip from his own glass.
The lingering scent of the man’s cologne tickled his nose, sending a warm pulse down to his belly, arousing him. He closed his eyes briefly as he took a deeper breath.
“Just admiring the volumes,” Ethan said as he turned to face Darren. He sipped from the glass as he stepped closer to Darren.
“I want to thank you,” Darren said, letting his fingers dance over Ethan’s dress shirt, massaging the younger man’s waist lightly, “for a wonderful evening.”
“The night is still young,” Ethan replied, taking Darren’s hands into his own, letting their fingers entwine. He reached up and placed a feather-light kiss on Darren’s lips.

Nate stared out at the lights of the city as they drove through Midtown. His thoughts kept wandering back to Darren and the kiss they’d shared earlier. He could still feel the solid warmth under his hand when he tripped on the ice and fell on top of Darren. The same solid warmth as when Darren had wrapped him in his arms, kissing him.
The picture from the file Darcy had sent him, didn’t do Darren justice. The man was so much more than a pretty face in a nice suit. Perhaps it was because of the circumstances under which they’d met, but the man had a hidden playful side that was a stark contrast to the hint of darkness on the surface. Nate doubted that most people, even those closest to him, were aware of the Darren’s hidden qualities.
It wasn’t his place to question his clients' intentions, but Nate couldn’t help wondering why Darren had hired him. Darren could’ve had anyone he wanted.
The man, quoting a friend of his, was gorgeous. Six feet and change in height; the man was muscular and solid, and he had a face that belonged on the cover of a fashion magazine. His dark brown eyes were magnetic; it was difficult to look away from them. Broodingly handsome was barely enough to describe the man.
The driver, whose name was Bobby, as Nate found out, dropped them off at the door of Darren’s building. Darren waited for him to get out of the car before extending
