alone.
“Not so fast. First, I’ll have payment.”
Lennox slammed his fist into Bane’s face sending the
arrogant wizard to the ground. Now there was nothing standing between him and
the filthy succubus.
    * * * *
Returning to her room, Zahra shoved the money into a hole
she’d carved into her mattress. One of these days, she’d have enough to take Sephina away and start fresh. Maybe they’d find Reza. She
missed her brother.
    “ Sephina , I thought I told you
to—”
But as the door opened wider, she saw it was not her sister.
The human called Lennox entered into her home without invitation. He shut the
door firmly behind him, clicking the lock in place. In her time spent as a
concubine, she’d been cornered by hungry men before, but she’d never felt like
prey. Until now.
“I’m closed.” She watched his dark blue eyes glint like
steel, slicing into her with raw intimidation.
His body filled the room and, from the way his long muscular
arms hung by his sides, he was ready to spring toward her at any moment. Strong
fists clenched at his sides and in the dim room, Zahra could make out scars
covering every inch of his hands. From his battered hands, her gaze moved
upward. She saw the blacksmith in a chilling new light. The muscles carved into
his lean body were tight with tension. Her stomach flip-flopped. He was a
gorgeous man, but a frightening one.
“A succubus is never done.” He stepped toward her, power
coming off the man in waves, causing her awe of his prowess to quickly turn
into white hot fear. Never before had she seen such innocent baby blues twisted
by such malice.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
    “Kidnapping a succubus.”
He lunged toward her. Zahra grasped the yellow lamp and
launched it at his head. She didn’t wait for it to connect, instead she hauled
ass toward the door. The shriek of glass shattering against the floor filled
the room as Lennox’s strong arms wrapped around her. His iron grip heaved her
off the ground.
“Get your hands off me,” she screamed, but he didn’t obey,
so she bit down on his bare skin until she tasted blood.
“I’m a blacksmith. My hands have had worse.” With that, he
slammed her against the wall, freeing her mouth from its clench on his wrist.
She squirmed, but to no avail. The man was damn strong.
“How about your manhood then?” She
dangled in his arms, but Zahra swung her knee hard into the man’s groin. He
dropped to the floor. Success.
Zahra opened the door to flee her own home, but Lennox’s
hand found her ankle and pulled her back. His force was powerful enough to send
her rolling across the room. She landed hard and coughed through the pain of
impact.
“I thought a sex demon would be quicker, what with getting
caught in sticky situations, like fucking someone’s husband.” He spit on the
ground beside her. Murder glinted in his blue eyes, an icy quality glazing over
his stare.
“Sounds like someone hasn’t gotten laid in
a while. I’ll make you an appointment for Tuesday.” Zahra hawked saliva
back at his feet before strong arms yanked her up from the ground.
“I would rather die than fill a whore like you.”
Despite the psychopathic quality of his glare, and the tight
grip of his hands on her wrists, his words were what cut her the deepest.
“Well, it may be a short list, but guess what? You’re one of
two people on my list of losers never to screw.”
Lennox spun her around and yanked her hard against his body.
His biceps molded around her. As she was pressed closer against his body, she
felt the subtle outlines of the muscles carved into his torso. The scent of steel
came next, a clean, metallic smell that mixed well with the warmth of his skin.
The aroma was much better than the usual odor of liquor permeating her typical
customers.
“You smell good, Lenny.” His momentary confusion was long
enough for Zahra to swing her elbow back in his stomach. He choked for air, but
didn’t let go. One of his
